Mt. Vernon Education Foundation Announces 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award Honoree: Elliot Bloom

The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is proud to announce Elliot Bloom, a 1995 Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation graduate, as a recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award.
His loyalty to Purdue is similar to that of Mt.Vernon. Some people can’t part with the black and gold. Bloom has built a remarkable career in collegiate athletics and currently serves as Director of Basketball Operations at Purdue University, where he is in his 18th year in the role and 24th year overall with the Purdue athletic department.
In his position with the Boilermakers men’s basketball program, Bloom plays a vital role in the success of one of the nation’s premier college basketball programs. He manages team scheduling and travel, assists with recruiting logistics, coordinates the team’s weekly operations, and oversees Purdue’s team of undergraduate student managers.
Bloom has also been responsible for helping Purdue consistently compete against the strongest competition in college basketball. In recent years, the Boilermakers’ schedules ranked among the most difficult in the country, including the second-most difficult nationally in 2024 and eighth-most difficult in 2025.
His work has taken him across the globe while representing Purdue basketball. Bloom coordinated logistics for international team trips to Australia (2008), Italy (2012), Spain (2016), Europe (2023), and Taipei (2017) as part of the World University Games.
Before his current role, Bloom served in athletics communications at Purdue and earlier worked in sports information positions at the University of Kansas and Duke University. During his career, he worked alongside legendary coaches including Gene Keady, Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, and current Purdue head coach Matt Painter.
Bloom graduated from Purdue in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. He and his wife, Monica, have two children, Lucy and Charlie.
A proud Mt. Vernon alumnus, Bloom represents the spirit of dedication, humility, and excellence that the Distinguished Alumni Award celebrates.
The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation will honor Elliot Bloom at the 2026 MVEF Gala, “Doubling Down on Tomorrow,” on April 11, 2026, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
