Steve Williams SCHOLARSHIP Fund Accepting Donations

A Letter from Jeff Young, MVEF Emeritus Member and Chair of the Steve Williams Scholarship Committee

Since the inception of the scholarship fund in 2009 twenty men and women, Mt. Vernon Community High School Soccer Players have been honored with a $500.00 stipend and a commemorative plaque.

Coach Williams helped develop terrific players but also emphasized academic growth and honorable citizens!

During coach Williams’s tenure as men’s and woman’s coach he and “His Kids” combined for a record of 198-92-13 ties! Many of Coach Williams’s team were honored nationally for academics, character, and sportsmanship! The men’s team was honored for their 3.58-grade point average for the State of Indiana: while the woman’s program won the Pinnacle Award 2018. They also received the United Coaches Team Academic Award and the United Coached team ethics and sportsmanship award 2015-2020. Steve has been recognized by his peers for the Jay Fredrich Award in 2020 as well as many honors in his great career! Many of you know of Coach Steve’s accomplishments but those of us who know him know he focused on the players!

It’s time to replace funds for our student-athletes.  Please consider donating to the Steve Williams Scholarship.

The Steve Williams Scholarship committee and the Mt. Vernon Education Foundations are partnering with this project. You can make checks payable to the Mt.
