Honor and remember someone today with a donation in their name that will provide and enhance educational opportunities for students and teachers in the classroom
Donations are a way to pay tribute to someone who has made a difference in their life. What better way to honor a teacher, administrator, staff person, pastor, scout leader, neighbor, grandparent, or anyone else who has had a positive influence this year or in past years than to make a donation in their honor to the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation.
In Memory: Many families have chosen to designate the Foundation as a memorial recipient when a family member has passed away.
In Tribute: Individuals have also chosen to donate as a tribute to a living person or persons.
Mt. Vernon Education Foundation Endowment
The Hancock County Community Foundation hosts the MVEF’s healthy endowment. Donations can be directly made towards the MVEF endowment. The long-term goal for this endowment is to eventually fund all MVEF operations through the annual interest from the endowment.
Steve Williams Scholarship Fund
In honor of former Mt. Vernon Soccer Coach Steve Williams, a scholarship fund was set up to assist with college fees for one female soccer player and one male soccer player. To donate to the Coach Steve Williams Scholarship Fund, select that fund through the donate link above. Please note if your employer has a matching gifts program.
The Steve Williams Scholarship is awarded to those players who most typify the tradition of sportsmanship, leadership, dedication, and contribution to the excellence of the Mt. Vernon High School Soccer Program.
Joel Young Memorial Fund
The Joel Young Memorial Fund was established by the foundation on behalf of MVEF Board Member Jeff Young and his wife Belinda, as a tribute to their son Joel. Joel was very active with children in his career as a behavior coach for students with emotional difficulties. It was Joel’s wish that children have a chance for success and have good lives.
The theme Joel has left us with is “do something good for a child today” and the money raised in Joel’s honor will be used to do something good for a child.
