MVEF is proud to grant out thousands of dollars to very worthwhile educational projects. Since 2008, MVEF has funded nearly $900,000 towards teacher-requested enriching educational materials.
Award Innovative and Engaging Grants
Since MVEF was established in 2007, all six schools and hundreds of Mt. Vernon teachers have been recipients of the grants. All students have been affected by educational enhancement resources provided by the MVEF throughout their educational journey.
Customized Direct Impact Programs
Corporations or donors have donated funds to directly impact Mt. Vernon STEM program, our staff’s health and safety during the pandemic, and financial literacy in our schools. These gifts can be customized to meet corporations’ outreach goals.
Teacher of Year and Staff of the Year Awards
Annual awards voted on by staff with finalists chosen by an MVEF committee. The criteria for the awards align with the state’s Teacher of the Year. Finalists receive the Ryan Fry Excellence in Education Award that includes a generous stipend. These awards are announced at the annual Black & Gold Gala.
Scholarships & Endowments
MVEF administers several scholarships to support students post-secondary education while the endowments support operations. Scholarships can mean a dramatic difference in students’ educational careers and success after graduation.
Thank an Educator
An annual opportunity for students/parents to acknowledge specific Mt. Vernon staff who have positively affected their educational journey.
Memorials and Tributes
Donations are a way to pay tribute to someone who has made a difference in their life. There’s no better way to honor a teacher, administrator, staff person, pastor, scout leader, neighbor, grandparent or anyone else who has had a positive influence this year or in past years than to make a MVEF donation in their honor.
Mt. Vernon High School Career Exploration
A program that provides real-world exposure to a variety of career pathways and offers an opportunity for high school students to connect directly with experts in various industries. Students are able to make connections and ask industry representatives direct questions about their field and employment.
Legacy Planning
Leaving a legacy is simple. Include a charitable bequest in your will or trust or designate the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation as a beneficiary of a retirement or investment account or insurance policy. You can positively influence the future of our young students through your gifts. Bequests and planned gifts of all sizes make a difference in the lives of our students.
