Mt. Vernon Education Foundation Announces $25,000 Donation from Mark and Connie Bulmahn to Establish the Eric Bulmahn Mt. Vernon Legacy Fund
The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Eric Bulmahn Mt. Vernon Legacy Fund, established with a generous $25,000 donation from Mark and Connie Bulmahn in honor of Mark’s brother, Eric Bulmahn, a dedicated youth volleyball coach at Mt. Vernon High School. The fund will provide crucial support for the Mt. Vernon High School volleyball program, including scholarships, equipment, and other resources to help young athletes pursue their dreams in the sport.
The fund has been set up through the Mark and Connie Bulmahn Family Donor Advised Fund, with Eric’s wife Monica and their daughters playing an active role in selecting the recipients. This ensures that Eric’s legacy of mentorship and guidance continues for future generations of Mt. Vernon athletes.
“In honor of my brother Eric and his lifelong passion for youth volleyball, we are proud to establish the Eric Bulmahn Mt. Vernon Legacy Fund,” said Mark Bulmahn. “This fund will support young Mt. Vernon athletes as they chase their dreams, just as Eric encouraged so many over the years.”
To further extend this tribute, Mark and Connie Bulmahn have committed to matching any outside donations to the fund dollar for dollar over the next twelve months, up to $25,000. This matching gift initiative could potentially raise $75,000 for the fund in honor of Eric.
“This is a heartfelt way to honor Eric’s dedication to coaching at Mt. Vernon, where he inspired so many—including my five nieces, who played volleyball there,” added Mark Bulmahn. “Eric once said, ‘The biggest reward I got out of coaching was every year, the players gave full respect to me, full respect to each other. They were a joy to coach.’ His love for the sport and commitment to his players left a lasting impact.”
The Bulmahn family hopes the Eric Bulmahn Mt. Vernon Legacy Fund will carry forward Eric’s passion for volleyball, helping future generations of players succeed on and off the court. “My brother Eric truly embodied the spirit of a ‘girl dad,’ always looking out for his daughters and everyone he coached,” said Mark. “Now, it’s our turn to give back and honor him for all he’s done to uplift so many young lives in the Mt. Vernon community.”
